And it was the first time a large event was supported at scale using the Graviton2-powered EC2<\/strong> instances, and they use 53,200 C6 G<\/strong> instances to power prime day. Now the team at Amazon provisions, 159 petabytes of EBS Storage<\/strong>, which handled 11.1 trillion<\/strong> requests and transferred 614 petabytes<\/strong> on the day and Amazon CloudFront<\/strong> handled a peak load of 290 million<\/strong> HTTP requests per minute, with a total of over 600 billion<\/strong> HTTP requests during prime day.<\/p>\n

Bottlerocket<\/strong> is an open source Linux-based operating system built for running containers, which is a super secure way to run containers on top of ECS.<\/p>\n

It includes only the essential software to run containers, which greatly reduces the attack surface of vulnerabilities.<\/p>\n

The root file system is read-only, the Kernel intercepts all direct writes, and behind the scenes detects any corrupt modifications and restarts the server.<\/p>\n

Announcing per second billing for EC2 Windows Server & SQL Server Instances<\/h2>\n

Amazon EC2 Windows Server & SQL Server<\/strong> instances are now billed by the second instead of by the hour, in one-second increments with a minimum of 60 seconds.<\/p>\n

This applies to all on demand, reserved & spot instances running on EC2.<\/p>\n

Anyone using a large number of instances running for extended periods of time, such as for development or testing, will benefit significantly from this. You will no longer have to worry about maximizing your usage on hourly blocks.<\/p>\n
